Become a member

People who have roles in company secretary, governance, risk management, compliance, AML/CFT matters are encouraged to obtain the membership of the Institute.

The journey to membership starts from registering as a student, progressively becoming a Graduate after completion of the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP), and electing as an Associate or a Fellow upon fulfilment of admission requirements set by CGI and the Institute.

Dual memberships and designations
Upon successful election, Fellows and Associates become members of both CGI and the Institute. They are also granted with the dual designations of Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional, which can better reflect the diverse governance roles that members are playing in the current corporate world.

Membership Reciprocity between The Chartered Governance Institute and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India

The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to recognise the common interest both Institutes have in promoting best practice in ‘Company Secretaryship’. As the Hong Kong/China Division of CGI, members of HKCGI can take the courses organised by ICSI and pursue the ICSI membership upon fulfillment of relevant requirements. Interested HKCGI members are required to get their membership verified by completing the Membership Verification Form and returning it to the Membership Section by email (member@hkcgi.org.hk) for arrangement. Once the endorsement is completed, HKCGI will send the form to ICSI for further arrangement.
