Networking Events & Seminars

The Institute not only offers support to members, graduates and students to develop their professional skills, it is also concerned about their well-being and personal growth as a whole.

The networking events and seminars on wellness and personal development are regularly held to cater for the diverse needs and interests of members, graduates and students.

For members who have reached the age of 70 at the beginning of the financial year, they enjoy *complimentary seats for ECPD seminars and membership events. Senior members are welcome to contact the Secretariat if they wish to enjoy this benefit.

(*) Complimentary seats for senior members are not applicable for the Institute’s Annual Dinner, Annual Corporate and Regulatory Update, Corporate Governance Conference and other events as may be decided by the Institute.

Recognition

Members of the Institute receive wide recognitions from governmental departments, regulators, statutory and professional bodies which include:

  • Companies Registry

    Members are recognised as ‘a professional company secretary practicing in Hong Kong’ under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) to:

    • certify translation of documents under Section 4(3)(e); and
    • certify true copy of documents under Section 775(2)(b)(vi).
  • Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX)

    Members are recognised by the HKEX as an acceptable qualification for discharging the functions of company secretary in Main Board Listing Rules 3.28 and Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) Listing Rules 5.14.

  • The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA)
    Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)

    Members are recognised by the HKMA and SFC as appropriate persons to certify verification of identification document under the Guideline on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism.

  • Hong Kong Bar Association

    Members are entitled for the Direct Professional Access (DPA) to practicing barristers for legal advice in the course of a member’s professional practice. DPA allows members to brief and instruct practicing barristers directly without the intermediary of solicitors.

  • Official Receiver’s Office

    Members are qualified to be appointed as provisional trustees under Section 12(1A) of the Bankruptcy Ordinance (Cap. 6).

    Official Receiver also regards members as qualified professionals to be appointed as provisional liquidators under Section 194(1A) of the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Cap. 32).
