Examinations
The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP) examinations are held in the first two weeks of June and the last two weeks of November each year (unless otherwise advised).
Note: Students who are currently taking the Collaborative Course Agreement (CCA) programmes are NOT eligible to take the CGQP examinations during their CCA studies.

Please register as an HKCGI student before submitting the online examination application. Studentship application deadlines for the upcoming examinations:
31 January (yearly) – for the following June examinations, and
31 July (yearly) – for the following November examinationsLate studentship applications shall pay a late administrative charge for enrolling in the upcoming examinations within 15 calendar days after the deadline.
For details, please click HERE. - You can submit an enrolment application only once per examination diet. After successful enrolment, you cannot change the module(s) and/or examination centre that you have selected.

Examination paper structure and format
All examination papers are of three (3) hours duration (plus 15 minutes reading time). The total marks for a paper is 100. Please click HERE for examination paper structure and format of each module.
Grades and results
Candidates will usually be notified of their results within ten weeks after the conclusion of the examinations. Result definitions are as below:
Distinction | 75 - 100 |
Merit | 65 - 74 |
Pass | 50 - 64 |
Fail | 0 - 49 |
Awards for outstanding achievement in the CGQP examinations
- Module Prize
Module prizes are awarded to candidates who have attained the “Distinction” grade (i.e. 75 to 100 marks). Each module prize is HK$3,000. - Merit Certificate
Candidates who have attained the “Merit” grade (i.e. 65 to 74 marks) be awarded the “Merit Certificate”.
Examination postponement
- Candidates who could not attend the examination due to sickness or medical reasons may apply for examination postponement.
- Candidates must apply for the examination postponement within 21 days after the examination’s diet completion. They must provide supporting documents, i.e. medical certificate(s) covering the date(s) that candidate(s) being absent from the examination(s) and pay the application fee set for the applicable financial year by the Institute.
- The examination postponement application fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. The fee and the application are only for the specified examination diet.
- The Institute may allow the applicant to sit for the next examination diet. Examination postponement is considered on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the Institute.
- Examination postponement will NOT be granted due to employment or job reasons.
Review of examination results
- Candidates may apply for a review of their examination results within 10 working days after the release of the results by completing the application form with the grounds for the review application and paying the application fee to the Institute. The application fee is non-refundable unless the examination result review application is successful.
