The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI), formerly known as The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), is the only qualifier of the internationally recognised Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional qualification in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

Who we are

With over 75 years of history and as the Hong Kong/China Division of The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI), the Institute’s reach and professional recognition extends to all of CGI’s nine divisions, with about 40,000 members and students worldwide. HKCGI is one of the fastest growing divisions of CGI, with a current membership of over 10,000 members, graduates and students with significant representations within listed companies and other cross-industry governance functions. HKCGI is also a founder member of Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA) which was established in March 2010 in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2017, CSIA was relocated to Hong Kong, operating as a company limited by guarantee.

Our Governance

The Council, as the governing body of The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute, sets strategy, promotes the interest of members, and has ultimate oversight of the operations managed by the Secretariat.

The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute Foundation Limited

The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute Foundation Limited (the Foundation) was established by The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI) in January 2012 as a company limited by guarantee.

The Foundation is a registered charity under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap 112) (Charity reference 91/11348) which enables donors to claim tax relief in Hong Kong for donations made to the Foundation.
