HKCGI and HKMU Partner to Elevate Sports Governance

HKCGI is delighted to have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) on 10 November 2025, to advance sports governance through structured education and professional development.

Sport inspires communities, but it also presents governance challenges. Strengthening governance is essential for Hong Kong's sector to grow with integrity and credibility, and provides opportunities for governance professionals.

On the MoU, Mr David Simmonds FCG HKFCG, HKCGI President, said: "Looking ahead, our joint initiatives will focus on accredited learning pathways, CPD materials and educational outreach to NSAs, schools and community organisations. By embedding good governance into sport, we aim to enhance athlete welfare, build public trust and position Hong Kong as a hub of sporting governance excellence."

Professor Alan Au Kai-ming FCG HKFCG, HKMU Vice President (Strategic Initiatives), said: "This partnership with HKCGI brings together our combined expertise and shared values, allowing us to enhance integrity and professionalism across Hong Kong's sports sector."
