The Institute has been at the forefront for a number of years in advocating listed companies to run their general meetings in hybrid mode so as to save costs, simplify logistics, and enhance corporate governance with more shareholders’ participation and stakeholders’ engagement.
The outbreak of COVID-19 undoubtedly presented unprecedented challenges to listed companies in the holding of general meetings, as gathering of a crowd might heighten the risk of spreading, and hybrid meetings, which the Institute have advocated, have now become mainstay.
As AGM season draws near, how should governance professional prepare for the running of an effective AGM in hybrid mode? Aside from legal and administrative issues under company law and the articles, there are aspects including relating to technology, equipment, costs, and data privacy.
This seminar will start with a recap by Mr Mohan Datwani, Deputy Chief Executive of the Institute, on the Institute’s thought leadership on hybrid meetings. Ms Catharine Wong, Managing Director - Head of Share Registry & Issuer Services from Tricor, a leading professional services provider in the area will thereafter discuss the practical, legal, and tech-based operational aspects of AGMs.
Tricor as technology provider, will also re-enact the Institute’s 2021 general meeting for name change in hybrid mode. Online participants will experience live broadcasting, e-voting and questioning.
