Speaker(s)

- Mr Ming Lam, Partner, Financial Services Tax, EY
Description
Historically, many multinational corporations (MNCs) and publicly listed companies in Hong Kong have employed offshore corporate structures involving entities in jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The speakers will begin with a high-level recap of the tax considerations associated with these structures, emphasising potential risks and benefits.
Currently, Hong Kong is experiencing significant changes in tax regulations and investment policies that directly affect offshore corporate structures. Notably, the 2025 Policy Address underscores Hong Kong’s commitment to be a platform supporting enterprises’ overseas expansions, particularly Mainland enterprises to “go global”, such as establishing Corporate Treasury Centres (CTCs) and regional headquarters (RHQs) in Hong Kong. The speakers will share insights into the implications of these new initiatives and the critical factors companies must consider before revising their historical structures. Their discussion will cover:
1, Hong Kong’s latest government initiatives: “Bringing in and Going Global”.
2, Hong Kong’s CTC tax concessionary regime, RHQ initiative, and the latest developments.
3, Feasibility of re-domiciliation to Hong Kong as a strategic option.
Looking ahead, what strategies can organisations adopt to navigate upcoming investment and business projects amidst these regulatory changes? The speakers will provide guidance on aligning corporate governance with the evolving tax landscape, ensuring that organisations are well-prepared to identify and capitalise on emerging business opportunities arising from Hong Kong’s latest government initiatives.
