Description

The UK and Hong Kong have a common interest in ensuring that their capital markets drive greater volumes of investment into the real economy. This lecture will examine recent regulatory initiatives in both jurisdictions to achieve this goal including the reform of listing rules and measures to improve secondary market liquidity in the shares of privately-owned companies. The lecture will highlight ways in which the UK is creating conditions that are more receptive to controlling shareholders and will compare and contrast constraints on controlling shareholders in UK and Hong Kong company law, corporate governance, and capital market regulation.
