Hong Kong enterprises have been increasingly expanding their business globally in recent years, driven by factors such as market saturation in Hong Kong, pursuit of new growth opportunities and profitability, and diversified of business risks, etc.

According to the report published by the Census and Statistics Department, analyzed by the immediate destination of investment, Mainland China accounted for a predominant share of Hong Kong's direct investment outflow by end of 2022 while Singapore ranked the sixth place amongst the other top 10 popular destinations.

When company making decision for foreign direct investment, there are significant compliance and governance challenges that Hong Kong enterprises must consider for ensuring adherence to regulations, manage risks, and maintain the enterprise’s reputation and long-term sustainability. Initiative-taking planning and continuous monitoring of the changes of legislative requirements are the key to expanding to global market successfully.
