Description

Since the 1990s, Hong Kong has emerged as a strategic springboard for global companies seeking to enter the Chinese market. In the past decade, Hong Kong has also become a springboard for Chinese companies to venture into the global market. Regardless of going to the global or Chinese market for business operations or investments, there is often a need of submitting Hong Kong company documents to the local authorities.

The documents for global purposes typically need to be notarised by a Hong Kong notary public and then legalised or apostilled, as per the Hague Apostille Convention. For the Chinese mainland, notarisation by a China Appointed Attesting Officer (CAAO) is required before authentication can be made to meet the specific requirements of the Chinese authorities.

Ensuring that the documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and readily available is crucial for a smooth expansion or investment process, allowing the Hong Kong company to establish credibility, comply with local requirements, and effectively navigate the administrative and legal aspects.

Seasoned speakers in this seminar will give an overview of the two distinct notarisation mechanisms for Hong Kong company documents, and share the best company secretarial practices of going abroad.
