Description

As a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United States and other countries have imposed significant export controls and sanctions against Russia and Belarus.  The speaker will examine these new controls, which are exceedingly complex and impose obligations on parties all over the world that ordinarily would not be subject to U.S. controls.  She will also discuss the challenges that companies with business interests in Russia and Belarus will face going forward and the particular pressure from the United States on Chinese companies to adhere to the new restrictions.

In this webinar, the following elements will be covered:

  • Background and escalation of recent export controls and sanctions – how did we get here?
  • Increasingly complex rules related to export controls and sanctions
    • Entity List restrictions
    • Military End-Use / End-User Rule
    • Foreign Direct Product Rule for Russia / Belarus
    • Industry sector sanctions
  • Forthcoming issues and challenges

Level: Intermediate
