The prominence given to whistleblowing under the recent consultation paper on Corporate Governance Code by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange reflects the importance of whistleblowing as a key compliance issue. These developments apply not only in Hong Kong but internationally, and those in governance functions for listed companies, trust and company service providers along with other industries are strongly encouraged to implement an effective whistleblowing system and embed this into their corporate culture.
