HKCGI’s Annual Celebration Cocktail Reception 2026, held on 16 January 2026, was a chance to pause, reconnect and celebrate the people who keep HKCGI moving forward. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us: past presidents, colleagues, peers and partners. Your partnership is what makes this community so strong.
At the event, we were pleased to unveil this year’s theme, “Future-ready Governance”, a timely focus as expectations evolve and organisations look ahead with greater purpose and resilience.
The evening also marked a leadership transition for HKCGI. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Immediate Past President, Mr David Simmonds FCG HKFCG, as he concludes his term. Over the past two years, his steady leadership and service have made a lasting impact. In the handover ceremony, Mr Simmonds presented the presidential medal to our new President, Mr Tom Chau FCG HKFCG(PE).
We were honoured to have Dr David Sun, GBS, JP as our Guest of Honour this year. As Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council, Dr Sun delivered thoughtful and inspiring remarks that left a lasting impression on all attendees.
One of the night’s standout moments was the presentation of the HKCGI Prize 2025, our highest accolade, recognising outstanding contributions by governance professionals to HKCGI and the wider profession. Congratulations to this year’s Prize awardee, Dr Kelvin Wong, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission. The award was presented by Ms Gill Meller FCG HKFCG(PE), International Vice President of CGI, Past President of HKCGI, together with Mr Tom Chau FCG HKFCG(PE), HKCGI President.
