On 5 November 2025, the Hong Kong Economic Journal (HKEJ) released two articles featuring an interview with HKCGI President David Simmonds FCG HKFCG alongside KPMG’s Partner Alva Lee.
Focusing on the implications of the updated Corporate Governance Code (CG Code), effective this July, the articles draw from the HKCGI-KPMG joint research report released in September, which examines how listed companies are interpreting and responding to the risk management and internal control (RMIC)-related changes.
Mr Simmonds views the revisions as a great opportunity for firms to evaluate their RMIC systems for long-term growth, particularly relevant amid rapid global changes and rising demand from investors for enhanced disclosures. He highlights how the extended transition period eases immediate concerns raised on the INED hiring requirements. On the matter of director training, he also spotlights HKCGI’s Director Training Package, a one-stop compliance solution available now.
