The Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC), as a member of the Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group (CASG), is involved in driving the development of sustainability assurance in Hong Kong.
The AFRC, through HKEX, has launched an Online Survey on the captioned topic on 6 May 2024 (refer to the HKEX email titled “Invitation to Participate in AFRC Survey on Sustainability (Deadline: 23 May 2024)”. The survey aims to assess Hong Kong listed companies’ preparedness for sustainability assurance and climate reporting, evaluate the importance of climate-related competency when selecting an auditor, and understand the role of accountants in companies' climate and other ESG reporting. The AFRC will use the feedback to contribute to the development of the roadmap as outlined in the government’s vision statement, and set priorities for the advancement of the accounting profession.
This survey is targeted at the chairperson and/or members of the audit committee or sustainability committee of listed companies. For those who work in listed companies, kindly ask your audit or sustainability committee to participate in this survey by 23 May 2024, in case the company has not already responded.
