Meeting with Mainland Regulators
Led by Institute President Ernest Lee FCG HKFCG(PE), a delegation consisting of Mainland China Affairs Committee Chair Natalia Seng FCG HKFCG, Past President Maurice Ngai FCG HKFCG, Vice President Gao Wei FCG HKFCG(PE), Treasurer Daniel Chow FCG HKFCG(PE), Council member Wendy Ho FCG HKFCG(PE), Chief Executive Ellie Pang FCG HKFCG(PE) and Beijing Representative Office Chief Representative Kenneth Jiang FCG HKFCG(PE) and Deputy General Manager of HKICS Consulting (Beijing) Limited Carrie Wang, visited the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and China Association for Public Companies (CAPCO) on 28 June 2023.
At CSRC, the delegation met with Zhu Huan, First-class Inspector, the International Affairs Department of CSRC, and Bi Xiaoying, Deputy Director of Listed Companies Department of CSRC as well as other officials from two CSRC departments. Bi Xiaoying gave a detailed account of CSRC’s latest corporate governance initiatives including a focus on the governance of INEDs.
At CAPCO, the Institute delegation met with Liu Lei, CAPCO Party Committee Secretary and Executive Vice President, Yu Hui, CAPCO Party Committee member and Vice President, Liu Cuilan, CAPCO Party Committee member and Deputy Secretary-general, as well as Heads of CAPCO Corporate Governance Department, International Affairs Department and Training Department. The parties exchanged information on their latest work and developments, discussed and agreed to consider renewing a Memorandum of Understanding dated July 2015 to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the future.
Roundtable meeting with governance practitioners in Beijing
The President and the delegation, joined by Council member Edmond Chiu FCG HKFCG(PE), attended a roundtable meeting with 20 Institute members, students and Affiliated Persons (APs) in Beijing on 29 June 2023. President Ernest Lee FCG HKFCG(PE) and Chief Executive Ellie Pang FCG HKFCG(PE) gave a presentation on the Institute and the global Institute’s latest developments. Huang Wensheng FCG HKFCG, Board Secretary of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, and Angel Sze FCG HKFCG, Company Secretary of Fosun International Limited, as representatives of Mainland governance practitioners presented their views on the needs for and requirements of governance talents in the Mainland. Participants also provided their views and suggestions on the Institute’s Mainland development and how the Institute could better serve the Mainland membership.
