Important: Companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2023

Dear members, graduates, students,

Further to the Institute's communication on 29 November 2022, we are delighted to inform you that the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2023 (the 'Amendment Ordinance') will officially come into operation on 28 April 2023. This is when Hong Kong-incorporated companies could adopt 'virtual meeting technology', that is, to hold hybrid or virtual meetings, unless specifically restricted by their articles.

At the Institute's recent Annual Celebration, The Hon Christopher Hui Ching-yu, GBS, JP, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (FSTB), expressed gratitude to Mr Ernest Lee FCG HKFCG(PE), Institute President and his team that worked closely with the FSTB when drawing up the legislative proposal. The Hon Mr Hui further noted that the FSTB would continue to keep in close liaison and count on the continued support of the Institute in implementing the proposal.
