Doing Business in China Series (6 Sessions)
China’s economy is vast. A myriad of national laws, local regulations and implementing measures makes doing business complex. In the post-pandemic world, more than ever, businesses need to innovate and focus on emerging opportunities and regulatory compliance. HKCGI is delighted to present a Doing Business in China series from August to November 2021 in which senior professionals will discuss China's economic transformation, foreign investment policies, business location incentives, as well as regulatory compliance covering issues from commencing to exiting investments.
M&A continue to be a strategy many corporates and executives leverage or resort to during the pandemic, and is expected to be a key driver of corporate activities post-pandemic. Many had expected M&A to be especially more prevalent when the pandemic started to hit many economies around the world, large and small, while many financial investors were sitting on huge, significant amount of capital, waiting to be deployed. Corporate divestitures and carve-outs were also on top of many executives/boards’ minds, as companies sought to preserve their core businesses and ready to shed less/non-core operations. In addition, capital markets had also been especially buoyant during the past 18 months, and that had provided additional means and liquidity to corporates to acquire, while the economic impact in many sectors were in fact, not as negative or damaging, as many had originally anticipated it to be at the onset of the pandemic.
In Session 5 - M&A - Execution and Control, speaker will discuss some of the nuances that governance professionals may consider as they are brought in to assist with the evaluation and/or closing of these deals. Practical experience will also be shared in assisting multinationals to take over the control of management, operation and compliance of business entities in the Mainland.
