Each year, HKCGI and Ms Edith Shih* FCG(CS, CGP) HKFCG(CS, CGP)(PE), provide an opportunity for interns to explore and share fresh perspectives on emerging governance issues. Now in its fifth year, this annual webinar focuses on the topic: "The Transition to an Uncertificated Securities Market (USM) in Hong Kong."

The move toward a USM—where securities are held and transferred electronically without the need for physical share certificates—has been under discussion for some time. As global markets such as the UK, Singapore, and Australia have already adopted similar systems, Hong Kong is now working to align with these international systems.

This seminar will offer an overview of the background, key milestones, and expected benefits of the USM initiative, together with the governance implications of this important transition.
